With good tees, beautiful fairways and quality green, Oswestry, with its excellent drainage, is ideal for all year round play. The Club has recently been granted the English Golf Union Environmental Award for its work in improving the ecology of the course. Over 100 years of History - In September 1903, Oswestry played its first match on Llanymynech Hill, which was its home until 1931. When the Club needed to relocate, James Braid, whose other courses include Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Royal Blackheath, wrote such an enthusiastic report about the suitability of the land at Aston Park that members were persuaded to accept his recommendation.

To mark the official opening of the new course in 1992, the Club invited four of Britain's leading players to give an exhibition match. One of the professionals was Henry Cotton (Open Champion in 1934, 1937 and 1948), who said it was one of the best courses he had played on. He also considered the 12th hole to be one of the best he had ever seen. Oswestry has been home to Ryder Cup players, Harry Weetman in the 1950's and Ian Woosnam in the 1980's. More recently, Scott Drummond, the 2004 European PGA winner, spent his formative years at the Club as a Junior Member.

Oswestry offers a warm and friendly welcome to visitors. We have an excellent steward and chef and are renowned for the quality of our catering and hospitality.
In addition to an extensive Lounge, Bar and Dining Room the Club house also has a snooker room. Both the men's and ladies' changing rooms are fully equipped with showers and lockers. Buggies are also available for hire - on request. The Club's well stocked quality golf shop is managed by our resident PGA Professional and two assistants - all of whom are available to provide golf lessons to members and visitors by arrangement.

Casual dress worn both on the course and in the Club house must be of smart and acceptable appearance. Jeans, Denim trousers, track suits, shell suits, football strips and shorts, collarless and sleeveless shirts are not acceptable. Dress shorts are allowed. Prior booking is advised. Handicap Certificate required. 10 minute tee of interval applies. A non-returnable deposit of £5 per head is required for parties of eight or more. Credit card facilities available.
Situated in the North of Shropshire, close to the English-Welsh Border, Oswestry is a bustling market town. The area, which features some spectacular scenery, is steeped in history with a variety of places of interest for visitors. A wide range of accommodation is available locally.
