The Shire Hall is a Grade 2* listed building which used to be the Crown Court for the whole of the county of Staffordshire. Now it is home to the art gallery plus one of the preserved historic court rooms dating back 200 years and the town’s central library. We also have a craft shop and a café bar serving delicious snacks.

Shire Hall aims to offer an exciting and interesting experience to visitors of all ages with information, hands-on activities, workshops and activities for all ages and abilities. Our exhibitions show artwork from local, regional and national artists on different themes, using fascinating techniques and materials. Artwork ranges from watercolours, oil paintings, sculptures, drawings, textiles and much much more.
