We are a theatre and cinema complex which is owned and operated by Warwick District Council.
We are dedicated to bringing the best available theatre and entertainment to audiences in central Warwickshire and the wider region; and to offer those audiences a high quality experience when they visit us.
We are also committed to being the natural home to a wide range of local amateur arts and drama groups and other community organisations.
There are four buildings that we operate:
The Royal Spa Centre on Newbold Terrace, is a purpose built theatre and was opened in 1972 by Anthony Eden, the former Prime Minister and MP for Leamington Spa and Warwick. It has a main stage auditorium with 664 seats and a Studio Theatre with 188 seats, which also operates as a cinema.
The Town Hall on The Parade was opened in 1884 and has two main rooms. One, the Council Chamber is still used as such by Warwick District Council and the second, The Assembly Hall, is a 250 seat performance space used for a wide range of performances, hirings and events by local groups.
The Glasshouse Studio is part of the temperate house complex which opened in 1999 in Jephson Gardens. It is a contemporary teaching studio, exhibition space and meeting room which can accommodate up to 35 people .
The South Lodge is one of the original entrance lodges at Jephson Gardens and dates from around 1850. It is a small meeting and exhibition space which can accommodate up to 15 people.
How we are financed.
We are wholly owned and operated by Warwick District Council and receive no other income or grant funding from any other bodies.
Leamington Spa is served by an excellent road network, just 10 minutes from the M40, and within easy reach of Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Banbury, Oxford and Rugby.
There is limited parking directly outside the Spa Centre and 4 designated Disabled spaces. A permit must be obtained between 8am-6pm Mon-Sat from the box office; a 15 minute grace period applies if coming in to book tickets.
The roads adjacent to The Spa Centre have lots of spaces, which are pay-and-display. Many areas are unrestricted after 6pm. Please read parking signs carefully when attending.
There is a pay and display car park (free after 8pm) next to The Spa Centre, behind the Newbold Bar and Brasserie.
By Public Transport
The railway station is just 5-10 minutes walk from the town centre, with fast, regular services to Coventry and Birmingham, a Chiltern Railways connection to London, and Virgin Cross-Country service.
Regular bus services are run by Travel West Midlands and Stagecoach Midland Red between Leamington Spa and Coventry, Kenilworth, Warwick and Stratford. For up-to-date timetable and fare information, visit www.travelwm.co.uk and www.centro.org.uk
