Warwickshire’s historic Hatton Estate has hosted a series of family camping weekends this summer, which was enjoyed by the guests who embraced the opportunities the venue offered.

The 700-acre park on the outskirts of Warwick is home to Hatton Country World, which includes a farm village, a shopping village, an 18th century coaching inn, and a range of country walking trails, including the Hatton canal locks. The Victorian estate hosted a fun weekend (May 18-20) and campers enjoyed the lovely rural walks, farmyard attractions, children’s play areas and toasted marshmallows.

Simon Morris who hosts the camping weekends said: “Everyone had a lovely time over the weekend. Families came prepared and we were able to do everything we had planned to.”

The remaining camping weekends for 2012 will run on June 22 – 24, July 27 – 29 and August 17 – 19. The package costs £30 per person, which includes a pitch for a tent and car for two nights, free entry to Hatton Farm Village and a full programme of entertainment.

Hatton Farm Village offers a full range of favourite farm animals, the biggest indoor soft play centre in the West Midlands, a children’s show marquee with magicians and discos, an adventure playground, with tractor rides and a gigantic sandpit, funfair rides and animal shows including falconry displays, sheep racing and daft duck trials.

Campers who don’t wish to cook themselves can use Snorty’s Restaurant which is open until 10pm each night and Ransons Farm Shop can provide all fresh supplies needed. Toilets and showers are available and camping hosts will be on site to ensure everyone gets the most from the weekend.

The estate even prepares evening treats of toasted marshmallows for the campers.

By Road

From the M40 exit at Junction 15 and proceed on the A46 sign-posted Coventry. Take the first slip road exit signed A4177 to Solihull. At the roundabout bear left onto the A4177 following the brown tourist signs to Hatton Country World. After 2.5 miles turn left just after The Waterman Public House onto the B4439. As you arrive at the crossroads turn left into Dark Lane. Follow the lane and Hatton Country World is 1 mile on the left.

By Public Transport

By rail (from Hatton Station)

By foot exit Hatton Station and turn left. At the end of this road turn left, then at the end left again. This puts you on Dark Lane. Hatton Country World is just down here on the right hand side. This walk is just under 2 miles / 3k long.

Alternatively you can exit the station and walk down the canal path. You need to exit the canal path at John's Bridge which will put you on Dark Lane. Turn right and we are just down here on the left. This route is just over 1 mile / 1.8k and is not ideal for pushchairs or wheelchairs due to narrow and uneven ground.

Either route will take approximately 20-30 minutes although this may vary depending on individual mobility.

By rail (from Warwick Parkway Station)

We are a short 5 minute taxi ride from Warwick Parkway Station. Alternatively you can walk down the canal path and exit at John's Bridge. This will put you on Dark Lane, you will need to turn left and Hatton Country World is just down here on the left. This will take 35-45 minutes.

By bus

There are no direct bus routes to Hatton Country World.
