The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum is located in the cultural heart of Coventry city centre, next to the historic Cathedral.

Having just undergone a £20 million redevelopment the site has eight permanent galleries displaying its collections and is also home to the History Centre, media suites, a shop, café and four temporary galleries displaying large-scale touring exhibitions from around the world.

The Herbert has had the honour of being officially named the Best Family Friendly Museum in the whole of Britain (2010) in the prestigious Guardian Family Friendly Museum award run by Kids in Museums.

Entry is free of charge.

Get ready to Make Merry at the Herbert this December

There's a weekend of festive fun approaching with a selection box of Christmassy events based at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry. It kicks off on Friday 8 December with the special after hours edition of the Making Merry craft fair, showcasing local artists and craftspeople. The free evening event running from 7.30pm until 10.30pm is a chance for over 18s to get some Christmas shopping done in style, browsing handmade gifts and decorations. Visitors can enjoy a festive tipple in the café with live music from The Upsiders, plus games and the usual crafty making fun. Free tickets can be booked online in advance.
