Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations - 23 April 2016, Stratford-upon-Avon

2016 is the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare death which will be marked in Stratford-upon-Avon and around the world by a series of special projects and events led by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and others. These are some of the multiplicity of celebrations that the Trust is leading or involved with: this schedule will be continually updated as further events information is confirmed.

Historical characters are coming to life, at a National Trust mansion house, near Pershore, with unique theatrical performances.

Celebrate St George’s Day at Blists Hill Victorian Town - Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th April

Come dressed as knight or princess and join the residents of Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire’s Ironbridge Gorge as they celebrate St George, the patron saint of England, over the weekend of 23rd and 24th April, when the streets will be decorated in patriotic red, white and blue. Join-in the patriotic parade, take part in a dragon hunt and see a re-enactment of the famous tale of St George and the Dragon.
