17th March 2017

Due to popular demand Dudley Zoological Gardens is launching a variety of family friendly themed evenings, which will feature a tour of the 11th century castle in the heart of the 40-acre site and talk by former Castle Keeper, Adrian Durkin.

Each event will focus on a different theme, including Medieval and Tudor times, life during the Civil War, the great fire in 1750, missile weapons and firearms as well as Medieval food and cookery.

Zoo Manager, Matt Lewis, said: “The tour will last approximately two hours and gives people the opportunity to learn all aspects about the iconic castle without having to visit the zoo.”

Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for children aged eight to 15. A family ticket for two adults and two children is priced £10 and all funds will go towards the castle’s ongoing upkeep and restoration.

The tours begin on Friday, April 21 at 6.30pm and the first is entitled Medieval Arms and Armour.

Pre-booking is required by calling 01384 215313 or online at where there is also a list of forthcoming dates and themes.
