October half term fun at Coventry Museums

18th October 2017

It’s almost the autumn half term and Coventry Museums have a fantastic selection of events to keep children entertained over the break.

Half term kicks off at the Herbert Art Gallery with a full day of fun on Saturday 21 October to celebrate the new Crafts of the Punjab exhibition. Watch and join in with traditional Punjabi dance and music performances, help build a giant Rangoli artwork, hear from professional storytellers and take part in craft workshops.

The holiday fun continues with prints aplenty from stampers to blocks and vegetable printing, with a different craft every day. There’s even a chance to paint a plate and have it professionally fired in a special workshop for children aged 7 and over on Monday 23 October. The family fun continues after half term with The Boy Who Bit Picasso, an interactive theatre show for anyone aged four and up, at the Herbert on 11 November.

Meanwhile at Coventry Transport Museum, playfully discover the wonderful world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) in the new and exciting STEMtastic workshops. Join in with celebrations to mark the first ever drive of the Bloodhound SSC and make roaring racers and horrible hounds in the family activity centre. Even the littlest ones can get in on the action with ‘Thrust and the Bloodhound’ storytelling sessions for under-5s on Wednesday 25 October. There’s even more Bloodhound action available with the exciting 4D Bloodhound SSC Simulator, and during half term there is a special offer to enjoy a Landspeed record gallery story for free when you book on the Bloodhound simulator, full details are available online.

October half term sees the last set of school holiday workshops at Lunt Roman Fort this year, so explore the fascinating historic site before entering the Granary to make your own Roman-style pot.
