The Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary’s visit to THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN at The Civic Hall in Bedworth last Saturday raised £200 in donations towards their running costs.

Heading up the ambassadors from the Sanctuary was Roxy, a beautiful tame fox, who has appeared frequently on television and felt that her celebrity status made her a suitable candidate for rubbing shoulders with the actors at The Civic Hall. The animals were meeting audiences and members of the public during the day and even got to meet the human stars of the pantomime.

Geoff Grewcock from the Sanctuary said: “ We are enjoying our relationship with The Civic Hall’s pantomime and are making a return visit with Roxy on 29th December to meet up with the children attending the performance as part of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Play Rangers event. We are trying to persuade The Civic Hall to continue their choice of pantomimes to tie in with our other residents so perhaps we will get Mother Goose, Ali Baba or Treasure Island where we can raise the profiles of our resident geese, snakes and parrots! ”

THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN continues to play at The Civic Hall in Bedworth until Thursday 30th December. Roxy’s comment on her brush with A Celebs - well, she’s decided that her own brand of fox food is off the menu and she demands top of the range!

Tim Norton, General Manager of The Civic Hall added: “ The Sanctuary’s visit was well received by audiences and it was good to see so many Saturday shoppers in Bedworth pop in to the venue to meet the animals. Meanwhile, we are coping with a plague of rats of our own on stage! ”
