The Perfect Penguin Picnic

6th April 2012

West Midland Safari Park is offering visitors the perfect opportunity to help feed the penguins for the first time this Easter.

Penguin Cove, the £500,000 home to a colony of young Humboldt penguins, which is the latest exhibit to open at West Midland Safari Park, is situated in the Park's Discovery Trail and will host the activity every day throughout the school holidays.

The twice-daily penguin feed picnic will take place at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Not only will visitors get the chance to learn more about these fascinating seabirds, there is the opportunity to assist the keeper at penguin feeding time. The activity is strictly limited and offered on a first come, first served basis. Only ten pots of fish can be offered during each feeding session for a small charge. And, with audiences reaching up to 50, it could prove to be quite a tense time for those hoping to participate.

As with any good picnic during the school holidays, a variety of other activities are also taking place. There's a kiddies Pingu ride; penguin inspired games and crafts, even some penguin shaped confectionary and gingerbread.

The Penguin Cove exhibit is open daily throughout the Easter holidays and is included as part of the standard admission charge of £14.99 for adults, £12.99 for children. A pot of fish for penguin feeding costs £1.50 per pot. Admission prices also include a free return ticket.

Amusement rides charged extra in all cases. Further information is available from the Park's official website www.wmsp.co.uk or by telephone 01299 402114.
