We’re gearing up to welcome visitors to view our new-look gardens which are undergoing an extensive replanting programme this spring.

The estate has seen a host of changes since new head gardener Steve Quinton took over the reins last summer.

Broadfield Court’s Alexandra James, said: “The run-up to 2012 saw us with a completely blank canvas in the garden and we are now looking forward to giving customers a lovely surprise this spring.

“The gardens are being replanted to provide something for everyone – it is such an interesting and exciting time for us and it has been a pleasure to work alongside Steve and his team.”

The revamped walled kitchen garden will now be able to provide the majority of the fruit and vegetables used in the estate’s award-winning Court Café.

The greenhouse has been extended, with plans for a new fruit cage to be built along with an exciting herb garden, which is due to be complete by April.

“We are delighted to have such wonderful fresh ingredients at our fingertips – our produce certainly does not have to travel any food miles,” said Alexandra.

In other parts of the garden, the orchard has received a regenerative prune, the herbaceous borders are currently being replanted and the popular David Austin rose garden has some new additions.

Plants grown on the estate will also be available in both the shop and the courtyard for visitors to buy.

The developing gardens will be back open to the public from February 1. Prices are £3.50 for adults and free for children under 16. If visitors have lunch in the Court Café, the price for the gardens will be reduced to £2.
