It's baby boom time at West Midland Safari Park with the arrival of five tiny baby ring-tailed Lemurs. The babies range from one to three weeks old and are now big enough to be seen hitching a lift with mum in the recently opened "Walking with Lemurs" exhibit.





The exhibit is the largest lemur walk through in the UK and is home to 20 ring-tailed lemurs, 3 white-fronted brown lemurs and 3 red-bellied lemurs, which are native of Madagascar. Of all the lemurs in the exhibit the ring-tailed are the most flamboyant and sociable. They appear to have boundless energy and yet still enjoy spending a lot of their time foraging mainly on the ground. This is good news for visitors as it provides endless photo opportunities and the chance to get face to face with these adorable little animals.





Bob Lawrence, Director of Wildlife said, "The lemurs have become one of the favourite animals at the Park. They are totally fascinating and often display some of the most unusual behaviour. The way they care for their young is quite captivating, too. A new baby in the troop is often the cause of great excitement amongst the other females that enjoy nothing more than taking their turn at a spot of grooming".





"Walking with Lemurs" forms part of the African Village exhibit and consists of a natural woodland walk which is located in an area beside an original lake in grounds landscaped by Capability Brown that date back to the 1800's. The lemurs have free range of the woodland. The facility includes purpose built animal housing, pathways, natural log visitor seating and a programme of daily talks.





"Walking with Lemurs" and the African Village is open daily and is included as part of the standard admission charge of £14.99 for adults,
