Mr Watt, Grumpy Man of Metal Comes to Ironbridge

Mr Watt, Grumpy Man of Metal’s, creator Jon Mills was born in Birmingham in 1959 into a family of metalworkers and studied at Wolverhampton before helping to found Brighton’s Red Herring Studios in 1983.

Museum opens 10am - 5pm daily This fascinating exhibition, by blacksmith artist Jon Mills, showcases fun and whimsical sculptures showing the many adventures of Mr Watt, Grumpy Man of Metal, who features in a series of illustrated books and makes unusual metal objects such as a crab’s bicycle, flying machine and a new kind of trumpet. Quaker Tapestry exhibition

An exhibition of captivating and colourful panels of embroidery telling the story and celebrating the life of people and events across the centuries made by 4,000 men, women and children aged from 4 to 90 years and from 14 different countries. Join the residents of Blists Hill Victorian Town over the Whitsun bank holiday weekend of 25th - 27th May as they celebrate the 81st birthday of their much loved Queen Victoria with great style, pomp and pageantry. Each day will be a fitting tribute to the gracious lady and her long reign with an extravaganza of colour, music and street entertainment. The event is part of Blists Hill Victorian Town’s 40th Anniversary celebrations.

Enjoy Punch and Judy Shows and performances by Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Prince Albert Players. The Town will be alive with activity and entertainment, all of the shops and cottages will be open for business and the friendly townsfolk will be on hand to make sure you enjoy this special day. Spring Tile Decorating Workshops

Join a drop-in tile decorating workshop and try the tube lining technique to produce a tile featuring your own design and choice of colours. Activities vary from day-to-day; tiles cost from £5 each and can be fired and sent home later for a small extra charge to cover postage and packing. It takes up to 1½ hours to decorate your tile so last admission to the workshops is at 3.15pm.
